(JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP) – A missing man was found thanks to the help of a Cass County K-9 officer.
Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to the 26,000 block of M-60 in Jefferson Township at 9 PM Sunday because of a missing 70 year old man. Michael Cox of Cassopolis had walked away from his home at 7:45 PM and had not returned. His caretaker was concerned due to Cox's medical issues.
Deputies and Cox's friends searched the wooded area around the home but were not able to find him. Deputy Graves and K-9 Officer Nellie were called in to assist and at 11:50 PM, they located Cox. He was in the woods, laying behind some thick bushes.
Cox was cleared medically by Life Care Ambulance personnel and returned home.
