(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) – A one vehicle roll over accident claimed the life of a Decatur man over the weekend.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to investigate an incident at 3:45 AM Sunday in Silver Creek Township. Deputies determined that 24 year old Eduardo Mendoza was driving east on Yaw Street near California Road when he lost control of his automobile, went off the road and rolled over several times.

Mendoza was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Behnke says speed does appear to be a factor in this incident, and Mendoza was not wearing his safety belt.

The Dowagiac Police and Pokagon Tribal Police Departments, Indian Lake and Dowagiac Fire Departments and Pride Care Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
