(LANSING) – A special recognition has been given to a person who works with and for older individuals.
Laura Sutter, Director of the Area Agency On Aging for St. Joseph and Branch Counties was one of four individuals presented with the 2019 Joe D. Sutton Call To Justice Award. The awards are given out by Elder Law Of Michigan.
Sutter, along with the other individuals were honored for their contributions in the areas of positive systems change, community collaboration to protect vulnerable adults, improvements in patient-provider partnerships and direct interventions to protect older adults from abuse and neglect.
Sutter has been with the Area Agency On Aging for 20 years. In addition she also serves on the Life Care Ambulance Board of Directors, the ADAPT, Inc., Board of Directors and is Board President of the AAA Association Of Michigan.
Also honored were Benita Armstrong, the Michigan Department Of Health And Human Services' Supervisor of Adult Services for St. Joseph, Calhoun and Barry Counties; Mary Ablan, retired Area Agency On Aging Executive Director and Dr. Joan Ilardo of the MSU College Of Human Medicine.
