(COLDWATER) – A familiar face has been named the new Coldwater Director Of Public Safety.

The City of Coldwater announced that Joe Scheid has been hired to the position following two rounds of interviews. Six individuals were selected to be interviewed, and that number was narrowed down to three who went through a second interview.

Scheid has been with the Coldwater Police Department since 1996. He was promoted to Corporal and later Road Patrol Sergeant and was named the Deputy Director of Public Safety in 2012. He has served as the Interim Director of Public Safety for three months, following the retirement of Mark Bartell.

Scheid is also licensed as a Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2.
