(BURR OAK) – Burning trash started a barn fire on Friday.

The Burr Oak Fire Department says they were called to the 32,000 block of Witt Lake Road for a barn fire. Mutual aid was provided by the Colon, Bronson and Tri Township Fire Departments to put out the blaze.

The owner of the barn, Owen Miller, says he was burning trash and the wind carried the flames to the barn. Miller says he was able to call 911, then get some tools out of the barn and disconnect power to a generator.

No animals were in the barn at the time of the fire. Damage estimates have not been released.
