Project Connect Set For Friday

(CENTREVILLE) – It's designed to help St. Joseph County residents find the services they or a loved one needs.

That's the purpose of Project Connect, presented by the St. Joseph County Human Services Commission and its taskforces. The annual event is happening today from 10 AM until 2 PM.

Laura Brott, Collaborative Coordinator for the Human Services Commission says the event continues to get bigger every year to serve the needs of St. Joseph County's citizens. ...... {LISTEN}.

Those who attend will be able to get information on family services, employment, education, legal aide along with utilities, housing and healthcare. In addition there will be a free lunch, haircuts will be available along with medical health screenings and flu shots. Visitors will also receive fresh food and 40 pounds of non perishable food items along with hygiene items.

Brott did say the Secretary Of State's Mobile Unit that was supposed to be at Project Connect had to cancel.

Going on at the same time will be the Veterans Stand Down. Rod Detwiler says there will be people there to share with veterans about services available to them. ...... {LISTEN}.

Some of the information for veterans will be clothing assistance; substance abuse services; transitional care management and VA nutrition and food. Veterans must bring a photo ID along with a form DD214.

Project Connect will be at the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds in the Henningsen Arena, and the Veterans Stand Down will be right next door.
