Community Comes Out To Honor Colon Football Team

(COLON) – The community of Colon came out Sunday night to honor their 2019 State Champion Magi football team.

The team arrived at Colon High School after an escort through Athens and Leonidas by the communities' fire departments. The Colon Fire Department met the team bus at the Village limits and brought them to the High School where hundreds of fans were waiting for them in the gym.

After an introduction by Athletic Director Paige Smolarz, members of the team got the chance to speak. Senior quarterback Phillip Alva says playing for a State Championship is something he and his teammates have always talked about. ...... {LISTEN}.

Senior center Brice Harvey says this whole experience will always be something he will remember. ...... {LISTEN}.

The players were also presented with their State Championship medals during the celebration. A fireworks show was held and players had the chance to have their picture taken with the State Championship trophy.
