(LAGRANGE) - The LaGrange County Commissioners approved a new ordinance Monday that clarifies who can and cannot have a weapon in a county building.

The new ordinance rescinds portions of six previous ordinances dealing with weapons. County Attorney Kurt Bachman says the new ordinance prohibits firearms, knives, tasers, chemical and biological weapons as described by the State Stature. Bachman says officers must now be trained to know what items are permissible and what items are not.

The ordinance also incorporates the signage that will be posted at the entrances of buildings.
