(TEKONSHA TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead following a two vehicle crash.

Michigan State Police say a vehicle was disabled on southbound I-69 in Tekonsha Township Monday after striking a deer. The two occupants were able to get out of the vehicle and walk off the freeway.

A second vehicle was traveling south and struck the rear end of the disabled vehicle. The second automobile then went off the road and struck a tree.

First responders arrived and performed CPR on the driver of the second vehicle. They transported the driver to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The names of the individuals involved are being withheld, pending notification of family members. The crash remains under investigation.

The Tekonsha Fire Department and the Marshall Fire and Ambulance assisted troopers at the scene.
