(BURR OAK TOWNSHIP) – One man is dead from injuries he sustained in a crash in Burr Oak Township.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Brad Balk says deputies responded to a traffic crash at 9:18 Tuesday night. The investigation showed that a 56 year old Burr Oak man was driving north on Middle Colon Road and left the roadway, striking a tree south of Kibloski Road.

The Burr Oak Fire Department removed the man from his vehicle and he was then taken to the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room by Life Care Ambulance. The man later died from his injuries.

Deputies say the man was wearing his safety belt, and speed appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
