(VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP) – A Howe woman died when her car was struck head on by a vehicle that crossed the center of State Road 120 Wednesday afternoon.

29 year old Tonya Yoder died at the scene according to the LaGrange County coroner.

Her passenger, 27 year old Seth Carter of Shipshewana, was treated for pain at Parkview Lagrange Hospital.

The driver of the other car, 34 year old Jason Yoder of Millersburg, was pinned in his car and was freed by Shipshewana firefighters. He was treated and released from Parkview LaGrange.

Jason Yoder told police he fell asleep at the wheel and went left of
center before striking the other car.

Police cited him for driving left of center. The crash remains under investigation.
