Norman Haas was elected to be the first Chairman of the Glen Oaks Board of Trustees in 1965, and served in that position until 1977.

Each honoree was given the status of Trustee Emeriti. The college establishes the rank of Emeriti upon retirement to those who have made long term contributions to the college. To be eligible, trustees must have had a minimum of twelve years of continuous, honorable regular service prior to retirement.
