(UNION CITY) – Michigan State Police are investigating a structure fire that happened Sunday night.

Troopers were called to the area of Mendon Road and Division Street in Union City and found a single story dwelling on fire. All of the occupants had safely evacuated the home.

The Union City, Union Township, Burlington Township and Athens Fire Departments battled the blaze and finally put it out.

Also assisting at the scene were the Union City Department of Public Works, Branch County Victims Services, Life Care Ambulance and the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
