(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – A Three Rivers man crashed his vehicle trying to avoid a dog.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 36 year old Ikbal Singh was driving east on Detroit Street near Barron Lake Road in Howard Township at 11:30 Wednesday morning. A witness told deputies that a small dog ran into the road and Singh tried to avoid it.

Singh's vehicle went off the road and overturned, damaging a utility pole. This caused a power outage to the area, until crews were able to correct the problem.

Singh and his passenger, Shila Devi, were taken to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. Both individuals were wearing the seat belts.
