By: Mike Stiles - Saturday, January 4, 2020

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Indiana Department of Education has released federal school accountability ratings for the 2018-2019 school year.

Of LaGrange County’s 13 schools, one received a top rating of exceeding expectations, and that was Meadowview Elementary.

Six schools received a rating of meets expectations: Prairie Heights High School, Westview JR-SR High, Topeka Elementary, Westview Elementary, Shipshewana-Scott Elementary, and Parkside Elementary.

The remaining six schools received a rating of approaches expectations. Those schools were Prairie Heights Elementary, Prairie Heights Middle School, Lakeland High School, Wolcott Mills Elementary, Lakeland Middle School and Lima-Brighton Elementary.

56 percent of high schools and 53 percent of elementary and middle schools received a rating of Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations.

Due to differences between federal and state accountability requirements, for the second year Indiana schools will be assessed under two accountability systems.

The State Board of Education adopted a resolution withholding any vote to release state accountability grades until the General Assembly has officially taken action on a request to pass a hold harmless resolution for the 2018-19 school year.
