Two People Injured In Cass County Crash

(JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP) – Two people were injured in a Cass County crash Monday afternoon in Jefferson Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 21 year old Kevin McCarthy of Elkhart was driving south on M-62 at 5:11 PM and failed to yield the right of way while turning east on to Hospital Street. His vehicle was struck by a northbound automobile driven by 54 year old Steven Wilds of Cassopolis.

Wilds was taken to Lakeland Hospital in Niles to be treated for his injuries. McCarthy was taken by a relative to get help for his minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and the airbags in both vehicle did deploy.

Assisting deputies were the Central Cass Fire Department and Life Care EMS.
