By: Mike Stiles - Monday, March 30, 2020

(CENTREVILLE) – St. Joseph County has taken another step to help out during the COVID-19 situation.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says with the first positive case of coronavirus being detected in the county, he has announced the partial activation of the St. Joseph County Emergency Operations Center. Lillywhite says the decision was made after much discussion with County Administrator Theresa Doehring, County Commission Chairman Dennis Allen and Emergency Manager Erin Goff.

Lillywhite says this is the next necessary step in ensuring the coordination and preparation required during a situation of this nature.

The partial activation begins today at 9 AM and is a collaboration between the Sheriff's Office, Emergency Management and the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
