COVID-19 Cases Rising In Southern Michigan

(COLDWATER) – Southern Michigan and the state as a whole saw an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases from Thursday to Friday.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reports that St .Joseph County has two more cases of coronavirus, bringing the total in the county to 10. Branch County has 6 cases, along with 19 at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. Hillsdale County has 26
cases and two deaths, while Cass County had 6 cases with 1 fatality.

Calhoun County now has 31 cases of coronavirus and a fatality while Kalamazoo County has 40 cases and a fatality.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says there are 12,744 cases of coronavirus in the state, and 479 deaths attributed to the virus.

CHA Health Officer Rebecca Burns reminds everyone to wash their hands frequently with soap and water; disinfect commonly touched surfaces and practice social distancing to help slow down the spread of COVID-19.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, Burns says you should self
isolate for 14 days to avoid potentially exposing others. If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, Burns says you should self quarantine for 14 days and monitor yourself for fever, cough and shortness of breath.
