CHA Says COVID-19 Claims Two Lives In SW Michigan

(COLDWATER) – Officials say two more deaths in Southwest Michigan have been attributed to COVID-19.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported Saturday afternoon that there was a death in Branch County and one in Hillsdale County from the coronavirus. One was a man and one was a woman. It's the first recorded death in Branch County due to COVID-19, and the third in Hillsdale County.

CHA Health Officer Rebecca Burns says their heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to the families who have lost their loved ones.

The CHA also says Branch County now has 10 cases of coronavirus, and there are also 25 cases at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. St. Joseph County has 10 cases and Hillsdale County has 37 cases.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says there are now 14,225 cases of COVID-19 in the state, with 540 deaths reported.
