Southern Michigan Reporting More Cases Of COVID-19

(UNDATED) – More cases of COVID-19 have been reported from Thursday to Friday in Southern Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says St. Joseph County has 4 new cases, which means 51 people have tested positive for coronavirus. There has been 1 death from the virus.

Branch County is reporting 3 new cases, which brings the total number of residents with coronavirus to 76. Two people have died from the virus in Branch County. Hillsdale County has 5 new cases. That makes 151 individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. There was another death in Hillsdale County from coronavirus, which means 21 people have died.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says another inmate at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater has died from the coronavirus. That means 18 inmates have died from the virus. One new case of COVID-19 has been reported among the staff at Lakeland, which makes 34 staffers who have the virus. There are no new cases among the inmates, making 791 who have COVID-19.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says Cass County has 3 new cases, which makes 39 residents who have COVID-19 and 2 people who have died. Calhoun County has 2 new cases of coronavirus, which means 254 people have been diagnosed with the virus. There have also been 17 deaths. Kalamazoo County has 12 new COVID-19 cases. That brings the total number of individuals who have tested positive to 573. There were 2 more deaths, which means 25 people have died.

Around Michigan, 680 new cases of COVID-19 were detected, which means 46,326 people have tested positive. There were also 50 new deaths in Michigan, bringing the total number of people who have passed away from the coronavirus to 4,393.
