(ASHLEY) – A Coldwater man is facing multiple charges following an incident in Steuben County.

An Indiana State Police trooper was patrolling I-69 south of the Ashley/Hamilton exit at 1:40 AM Saturday when he observed a 2013 Ford Taurus driving at 110 MPH.

The trooper followed the suspect vehicle north for approximately eight miles. During that time, the Taurus swerved from lane to lane, ran off the roadway, and would slow down and speed back up again.

The trooper was able to get the driver to stop near the Lake James exit without a major incident.

As the trooper spoke to the driver, 26 year old Nicholas Sajecki of Coldwater, he realized Sajecki showed signs of alcohol impairment. Sajecki was taken to the Steuben County Jail for further testing. Following the testing he was charged with three counts of operating while intoxicated, operating while suspended and reckless driving.

He is being held pending an initial hearing.
