McDonough Arrested Following Lockport Township Accident

UPDATED AT 12:30 PM

(LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP) – An accident in Lockport Township led to the arrest of a St. Joseph County official.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his department responded to a single vehicle property damage crash just after 7 PM Monday in the 1700 block of Lovers Lane. Deputies arrived on scene and found a black SUV parked on the north side of Lovers Lane, facing east. There was damage to the SUV and the property owner's fence.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was 40 year old John McDonough, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and having an open container in a motor vehicle.

McDonough was lodged in the Cass County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in St. Joseph County District Court on May 21.
