(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill has had his law license suspended for thirty days.

Monday morning, the Indiana Supreme Court announced the suspension, after finding Hill violated professional conduct rules stemming from allegations he inappropriately touched four women at a downtown Indianapolis bar.

The Court says Hill's suspension will start May 18. He will not be able to take on any legal matters during the suspension.

It was alleged that on March 14, 2018, Hill committed acts of misdemeanor battery against four women at an end of session gathering of legislative staffers. During an October 21, 2019 disciplinary hearing, State Representative Mara Candelaria Reardon, Statehouse staffers Samantha Lozana and Gabrielle McLemore Brock and former Statehouse employee Niki DaSilva testified that Hill's behavior made them uncomfortable and feel violated.

All four women testified that Hill's acts involved various forms of non consensual and inappropriate touching. More specifically, they testified that Hill touched them on the back and moved his hand down towards their buttocks. DaSilva testified that Hill did touch her buttocks.

Hill also underwent four days of testimony and questioning last October during which time he repeatedly denied that he touched the women inappropriately.

Monday afternoon, Hill issued a statement. He says he accepts with humility and respect the Indiana Supreme Court's ruling of a 30 day suspension of his license with automatic reinstatement.

Hill says he has directed that starting May 18, Chief Deputy Aaron Negangard will assume responsibility for the legal operations of the office during the temporary suspension of his license.
