Slight Rise Around Southern Michigan In COVID-19 Cases

(UNDATED) – There was a slight rise in the number of COVID-19 cases around Southern Michigan from Monday to Tuesday.

According to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency, St. Joseph County saw 7 new cases detected. That means 72 people have tested positive to the coronavirus. There has been 1 death in the county.

Branch County has 2 new cases, which means 82 residents have COVID-19. Two people have died from the virus in Branch County. Hillsdale County has no new cases, which makes 152 people with coronavirus. There have been 22 people who have died from the virus.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says that another inmate at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater had died from COVID-19. 20 inmates have now lost their lives to the virus. No new cases were reported at the Coldwater facility, which means 791 inmates and 34 staff members have coronavirus.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says Cass County has another new case of COVID-19. 43 residents have tested positive for the virus, and 2 people have died.

Statewide, 469 new cases of COVID-19 are being reported, making 48,021 people who have tested positive. There were also 90 more deaths around Michigan, which means 4,674 people who have died.
