WOLCOTTVILLE, IN - A firefighter has been hospitalized following a structure fire Saturday night at a restaurant south of LaGrange between Hackenburg and Messick Lakes.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening, Beauty and the Bull Bar and Grill, located at 5935 South 075 West, Wolcottville (IN), told customers via their Facebook page they were closing for the evening due to an electrical issue. Reportedly the restaurant’s main breaker blew, leaving them without power.

Owners had a crew working to resolve the issue. At some point, the electric issue resulted in a fire.

Responding to the scene was the Topeka Volunteer Fire Department. Eye-witness accounts say flames were visible coming from the structure.

According to the Topeka Fire Department, while conducting interior operations, two firefighters became trapped in the attic of the structure. Reports indicate the “attic flashed and cut-off their egress path”.

A mayday signal went out from the trapped firefighters. Officials say they were able to locate and remove them from below by pulling the ceiling.

One of the firefighters is reportedly recovering from injuries at an Indianapolis hospital. No other information on the blaze, including the name of the injured, are not available at this time.

Assisting the Topeka Fire Department on scene was the Johnson Township Fire Department, Orange Township Fire Department, Parkview EMS, LaGrange County Sheriff, and LaGrange County Dispatch.
