(SHIPSHEWANA) – A single vehicle crash Sunday morning took the life of an Angola woman and injured her passenger.

Indiana State Police say at 8:05 Sunday morning, they were called to a location near the 112 Mile Marker on the Indiana Toll Road. Their investigation determined that 67 year old Theresa DeVos of Angola was driving west, when her vehicle hydroplaned on the wet pavement. The automobile veered off the road and struck a guardrail. The vehicle started to spin, rolled over and came to rest on the passenger side in the grass median.

Troopers were able to push the vehicle back onto its tires. DeVos was unresponsive and not breathing. She was removed from the vehicle and given CPR, but died at the scene.

A passenger, the driver's 39 year old daughter Marie DeVos, also of Angola, was removed from the vehicle and given aid by Toll Road maintenance workers until Middlebury EMS personnel arrived and took her to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the LaGrange Fire Department, LaGrange EMS and the LaGrange County Coroner. The crash remains under investigation.
