More Coronavirus Cases Reported In Southern Michigan

(UNDATED) – More new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Southern Michigan over the weekend.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says 4 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in St. Joseph County. That brings the total number of people with the virus to 86 and 1 person who has died.
Branch County has 5 new cases, which means 97 people have tested positive for the coronavirus. There have been 2 deaths in Branch County. Hillsdale County has 4 new COVID-19 cases, which makes 166 people who have the virus. There have been 2 more deaths in the county, which means 24 people have lost their battle with the virus.
The Michigan Department of Corrections says 1 new case of the coronavirus has been detected among the inmates at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater. That makes 792 prisoners who have tested positive. There have been 20 inmates who have died from COVID-19 and 34 staff members who have tested positive for the virus.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says Cass County has 9 new cases of the coronavirus. That makes 59 residents who have the illness, and 2 people who have died.
Statewide, 1,063 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected. All total, 51,142 people in Michigan have the virus. 66 more deaths have been confirmed, which means 4,891 people have died across the state.
The Department of Health and Human Services also says as of Friday, 28,234 people have recovered from COVID-19.
