June Jobless Rate Down Slightly In Michigan

(LANSING) – Jobless rates went down in Michigan during the month of June.

According to information released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget, the June jobless rate was 14.8 percent. That's down 6.5 percent from May, which were revised to 21.3 percent. Total employment in June advanced by 464,000, but was still 556,000 below February pre-pandemic levels.

Nationwide, the jobless rate went down 2.2 percent from a May figure of 13.3 percent to 11.1 percent in June.

Jason Palmer, Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives says Michigan's labor market recorded a notable rebound in jobs in June, led by significant recalls in the auto industry. The largest numeric industry employment advances were recorded in Manufacturing and in Leisure and Hospitality.
