Mendon Kiwanis Showboat Canceled For 2020
By: Mike Stiles - Thursday, July 16, 2020

(MENDON) – Another annual event will not be happening in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Dale and Vicki Eickhoff with the Mendon Kiwanis Club says this year's edition of the Mendon Kiwanis Showboat will not be performed. The Eickhoffs say there are just too many unanswered questions, such as the course of the coronavirus; the risk to chorus members and the audience; and the willingness of donors to give during a disastrous economic year.

The Eickhoffs say that while rough waters have prevented the Showboat from sailing this year, the needs of children continue, and they will launch the Showboat again in 2021. Until that time, freewill contributions will gratefully be accepted because “Kids Still Need Kiwanis”.

The Showboat program spotlights local talent and is a fun way to raise money which the Mendon Kiwanis Club then uses to help countless children not only in Mendon, but around St. Joseph County and the State of Michigan.

The Eickhoffs are looking forward to next year. They sincerely hope that business as usual will be restored and that they can count on the community's help for the docking of the 2021 Mendon Kiwanis Showboat.
