(COLDWATER) – The preliminary hearing of a Florida man arrested in the stabbing death of another person in Coldwater has been rescheduled.

Branch County District Court personnel say the preliminary hearing for 33 year old Raiko Moreira-Gonzalez has been moved back to July 22. He is charged with open murder in the June 13 death of 35 year old Juan Uresti-Rodriguez of Texas.

Coldwater Police were sent to the Quality Inn at 3 AM June 13 following a 911 call. Officers found Rodriguez unresponsive in a motel room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses provided a description of Gonzalez and his vehicle. Michigan State Police spotted the automobile on U.S. 12 near Quincy. Troopers stopped the car and were able to take Gonzalez into custody. A search of the vehicle found evidence related to the stabbing.

Investigators say the two men were arguing in Rodriguez's room. During the argument, Gonzalez took out a knife and stabbed Rodriguez once in the chest.

Gonzalez is being held without bond in the Branch County Jail.
