By: Mike Stiles - Saturday, July 18, 2020

(STURGIS) – Sturgis High School will hold their graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Sunday.

High School Principal Nicholas Herblet says they are going with their alternative graduation plan. Under this plan, members of the Sturgis High School Class of 2020 will have their names read as they walk in their cap and gown across a stage that will be set up in the parking lot at SHS. The school will also utilize an FM system that will allow people in vehicles to hear the ceremony. Also, up to 9 family members will be allowed in attendance near the stage to take pictures and witness their graduate's name being read. Masks will be required by all those near the stage.

Also, senior speeches, staff speeches, senior of the year and other traditional elements of graduation will be pre-recorded and included in the final digital ceremony.

The ceremony will have staggered start times. The first group will begin at 1 PM and it's anticipated the ceremony will last until 5:30 PM.

Herblet says the ceremony will be held outdoors no matter the weather conditions so graduates should please come prepared.
