(UNDATED) – One person is dead and four others injured in a multiple
motorcycle crash.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says several motorcycles were heading west on U.S. 20 in the area of County Road 21 around 7 PM Saturday. Deputies say 44 year old Ignacio Orona Jr. of Osceola stopped in the turn lane of U.S. 20 and was struck from behind by 40 year old William Hall of South Bend. That started a chain reaction that involved a third motorcycle driven by 35 year old Miguel Nunez of Elkhart.

A passenger on Orona's motorcycle, 47 year old Angela Gatto of Goshen was pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.

Orona was taken to Elkhart Memorial Hospital to be treated for a broken pelvis, a possible head injury and several cuts.

32 year old Desiree Wiser of Elkhart was a passenger on Nunez's motorcycle. She was taken to Goshen Hospital complaining of pain to her hips, back and waist. Nunez was transported to Elkhart Memorial Hospital with cuts, minor fractures and a possible head injury.

Hall was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with a possible concussion, a broken arm and wrist and possible internal bleeding.

The crash is still under investigation.
