By: Mike Stiles - Tuesday, July 21, 2020

(STURGIS) – Sturgis Public Schools has finalized their back to school plan under guidelines from the State of Michigan.

Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert presented the plan Monday during the Board of Education's regular meeting. Ebert says in putting the plan together, the ultimate goal of the Committee was to have in person instruction for Sturgis Public School students. But, they also realized that some parents would rather have on line learning options.

The plan consists of Option A, which is Back To School instruction and Option B, which would be School From Home instruction.

Presently, Sturgis Schools is at School Phase 4 according to the State. Ebert says under Option A of the back to school plan, and being in Phase 4, what that would mean for Sturgis students if classes were to start today. ...... {LISTEN}.

Ebert explains how that would work. ...... {LISTEN}.

If Sturgis Schools reaches Phase 5 and 6, then all students would receive in person instruction five days a week.

Ebert says a letter is going out to all parents and staff to explain the plan. They are hoping that starting the week of July 27, parents will be signing up for what option they want their child or children to be in.
