Walton Says Time Is Right To Run For State House

(NOTTAWA) – Farming has taught Larry Walton a lot about hard work and what it takes to be successful.

He wants to take that knowledge and put it work in Lansing serving in the Michigan House of Representatives. Walton is one of the five candidates that is seeking the Republican nomination to run for the 59th District seat in the Michigan House.

Walton has served at the local and county level. He was appointed to finish a term on the St. Joseph County Commission, which lasted six months. He also served on the St. Joseph County Community Mental Health Board for six years and on the St. Joseph County Economic Development Corporation Board until that changed into Southwest Michigan First. Walton is a current member of the Centreville Board Of Education.

In addition, Walton served six years on the State Farm Bureau Board.

Walton says this was always a family decision and he spoke at length to his wife and children before announcing his candidacy.

Walton says the budget and economy are areas that the Legislature will have to deal with specifically over the next few years. Education is another hot button topic that will have to be addressed, along with the physical and mental health of Michigan residents.
