Carra Will Run For 59th District State House Seat

(CENTREVILLE) – For the first time in six years, there will be a new face representing the 59th District in the Michigan House of Representatives.

Tuesday in the Republican Primary, residents of the 59th Michigan House District voted to have Steve Carra be their candidate in November. He received 5,003 votes.

Finishing second in the five person race was Jack Coleman with 3,136 votes. Larry Walton came in third with 2,390 votes while Allen Balog was fourth with 2,077 votes and Daniel Hinkle was fifth with 814 votes.

Carra will face Democratic candidate Amy East in the November General Election. She ran unopposed for her party's nomination, receiving 4,219 votes.

Three time incumbent Republican State Representative Aaron Miller can not run for the seat again due to term limits. The 59th Michigan House District is made up of St. Joseph and Cass Counties.
