(SHIPSHEWANA) – A Florida man was arrested following a weekend police chase.

According to the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office, a suspicious vehicle was reported September 26 at 7:35 PM in the area of 1190 West State Road 20 in Shipshewana. Witnesses reported seeing a man driving a white van through a yard in the area, with all of the doors on the vehicle open. The van was last seen traveling north on County Road 1150 West.

A short time later, more witnesses reported the van heading east on State Road 120 near State Road 5 at a high rate of speed.

Sheriff's deputies located the van heading east on State Road 120 near County Road 100 West, driving approximately 94 MPH. Deputies stopped the van, and discovered the driver was 32 year old Lawrence Horvath-Cambron of North Port, Florida. He stopped the van and got out, but left the vehicle in gear. The van continued east a short distance and then went off the road.

Deputies attempted to detain Horvath-Cambron, but he physically resisted, biting a deputy in the hand before he could be restrained. Horvath-Cambron was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital, showing symptoms consistent with Excited Delirium. He stated he had recently taken meth, but no drugs were found on him or in the van.

Horvath-Cambron is charged with battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. Additional charges are pending.
