Sturgis Man Arraigned On Homicide Charge

(CENTREVILLE) – A Sturgis man has been officially charged with first degree homicide from a shooting incident October 2.

St. Joseph County District Court officials say 35 year old Erik Davis was arraigned on the homicide charge and his bond was set at $750,000.

The Sturgis Police and Fire Departments were called to the 500 block of North Prospect Street just after 5:30 PM October 2 following a report of shots being fired. Authorities located a 33 year old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to Sturgis Hospital, where he later died.

Officers arrested Davis a short time later and transported him to the St. Joseph County Jail.

The investigation is continuing, with assistance from the Michigan State Police. If anyone has information on this crime, they are asked to call either the Sturgis Police Department at 269-651-3231 or St. Joseph County Central Dispatch at 269-467-4195.

Davis is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on October 20.
