Slick Roads A Factor In Two Vehicle Crash
By: Mike Stiles - Friday, December 18, 2020

(SHERMAN TOWNSHIP) – Wednesday's slippery driving conditions were a factor in a two vehicle crash.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says a 32 year old Sturgis man was driving east on Featherstone Road in Sherman Township at 9:30 Wednesday morning and was unable to stop at the intersection of M-66. The vehicle slid into the intersection and struck a southbound semi, which was driven by a 65 year old man from Pennsylvania.

The semi jack-knifed and blocked the highway. A third passenger car swerved to avoid the original crash and went into the ditch along M-66. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The Sturgis man was cited for driving too fast for road conditions. Assisting deputies were the Tri-Township Fire Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
