By: Mike Stiles - Monday, January 4, 2021

(UNDATED) – Alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in a one vehicle accident over the weekend.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says 26 year old Jacob Young of Elkhart was driving north on County Road 29 near County Road 52 just after 10:30 Sunday night. His pickup went off the east side of the road for an unknown reason, struck a tree, and then slid through a fence before coming to rest in a field.

Young had a cut to his head and was taken to Goshen General Hospital by the Jackson Township Medics.

Indiana State Police are investigating Young for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
