(COLDWATER) – Whatever it may be called, the time after the Christmas and New Year's holidays can be filled with anxiety and depression for many people.

Health experts says the decrease in the amount of sunshine we see daily during the winter months can lead to what is called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Approximately 10 million people suffer from SAD. Added to the winter blahs as they are often called, are the difficulties brought on in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic, and there has been an increase in mental health issues around the United States.

ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital officials say the mild depression is controllable. However, if depression is causing a severe decline in a person's ability to carry on the normal activities of daily living, then they need to see their physician.

ProMedica Coldwater is offering Outpatient Behavioral Health Services for the public. If you would like more information, you can call 517-279-5020.
