Sheriff's Department Looking For Suspect In Hit And Run

(PARK TOWNSHIP) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man involved in a hit and run crash.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says a vehicle struck a gas station in the 20,000 block of M-60 in Park Township at 1:15 PM Monday. The suspect also assaulted a clerk when confronted about the crash, then drove off to the east on M-60 at a high rate of speed.

The building sustained moderate damage and there were no injuries reported.

The suspect auto is a red GMC Jimmy style vehicle with a black back hatch. It had a Michigan registration plate. The suspect is a white man in his 40's. He was wearing a gray stocking hat and a winter coat that possibly had a logo for a plumbing company.
