(UNDATED) – Authorities say an Elkhart woman was injured in a hit and run incident.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called just after 11 AM Tuesday to a crash that happened at the intersection of Redfield Street and Kestrel Hills Drive.

Investigators say 28 year old Porsha Gordon of Elkhart was driving west on Redfield Street when her vehicle was struck by a red, Ford Fusion. Gordon lost control of her automobile, and struck a tree on the south side of the road.

The Ford Fusion continued heading east on Redfield Street and never stopped.

Gordon refused medical treatment at the scene from the SMCAS Ambulance and the Niles Township Fire Department. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and the airbags did deploy.

The incident is still under investigation.
