February Jobless Rates Up Slightly In NE Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Jobless rates were up slightly around Northeast Indiana from January to February.

Information released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows that LaGrange County went up three-tenths of a percent from January to February going from 2.6 to 2.9 percent. That 2.9 percent rate ties
LaGrange County with Adams County for the lowest jobless rate in Indiana.

DeKalb County also saw their unemployment rate go up slightly from 3.5 to 3.7 percent, an increase of two-tenths of a percent.

Elkhart County was unchanged at 3.5 percent. Noble County held at 4.3 percent and Steuben County was the same from January to February at 3.6 percent.

Statewide the jobless rate for February was 4.2 percent, up from a January figure of 4 percent. That's still better than the national jobless rate for February, which was 6.2 percent.
