(WAYNE TOWNSHIP) – A Bronson teen was injured in a weekend crash in Cass County's Wayne Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 19 year old Lukas Whitaker of Dowagiac was driving north on O'Keefe Road, past Dutch Settlement Road, at 2:15 Saturday afternoon. Deputies say Whitaker's passenger, 17 year old Elyse Sackett of Bronson, grabbed the wheel, causing the vehicle to go off the road and strike a tree.

Sackett sustained minor injuries and was taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

Seat belts were worn by both individuals. Assisting at the scene were the Wayne Township Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
