(LAGRANGE) – A Shipshewana man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for his part in robbing a hotel in Shipshewana.

LaGrange County Court officials say 26 year old Matthew Felder entered a plea agreement with the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office. He plead guilty to a felony charge of aiding in an armed robbery and a separate felony charge of possession of dangerous material by an incarcerated person. That was after the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department found Felder had a razor blade he made into a weapon while in the County Jail.

With the plea agreement, the Prosecutor’s Office dropped misdemeanor charges against Felder of visiting a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Authorities say Felder drove a get away vehicle for 21 year old MacKenzie Scott of Shipshewana. She was arrested after allegedly entering the Van Buren Hotel in Shipshewana on January 30, 2020 with a machete and robbing the business.

She is charged with robbery and will have a pre-trial conference on May 4.
