(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – One person was injured in a two vehicle crash in Cass County's Porter Township.

The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 58 year old Scott Hunt of Union was on U.S. 12 near Mason Street, attempting to turn into a private driveway just after 10:30 PM Friday, when he struck a westbound motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, 33 year old Nathanael Haines of South Bend, suffered unknown injuries, was taken by SEPSA Ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital. Haines was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation. Michigan State Police also assisted at the crash site.
