(UNDATED) – It was a busy 9 hour stretch for the Coldwater Fire Department.

Thursday at 6 PM, firefighters were sent to 1091 Cady Road in Girard Township for a structure fire. When they arrived, they found some light smoke showing from the eaves and part of the decking was on fire. With the help of the Union City Fire Department, they found that insulation had heated up and started smoking because of a wood boiler.

Crews removed the insulation. Minimal damage was done to the structure.

Friday at 1:30 AM, Coldwater firefighters were sent to Trailtree Village on North Michigan Avenue for what was reported to be a structure fire with two people trapped inside. They arrived and found a caregiver trying to help a non ambulatory patient get out of the house.

When they entered the house, firefighters found a small stove fire which was quickly put out and the house was cleared of smoke.
