Sturgis Police Holding Citizen Police Academy

(STURGIS) – If you have always wanted to know what police officers have to go through, you now have the chance.

The Sturgis Police Department is going to be holding a Citizen Police Academy. Sergeant Damon Knapp shares some of what will be covered during the ten week course. ...... {LISTEN}.

In addition, crime scene investigation will be discussed during their class along with fire response.

As part of the class, the students will be required to ride with an officer for six hours to get a good sense of a typical night patrol.

Classes will start February 6 and run every Wednesday from 6 until 8:30 PM until April 10. This is for Sturgis area residents who are at least 18 years old with no serious criminal record.
