(EMMETT TOWNSHIP) – A two semi crash early Thursday morning claimed the life of a Mendon man.

Michigan State Police from the Marshall Post say a 40 year old Bellville man was entering the westbound lane of I-94 from 11 Mile Road in Calhoun County's Emmett Township at 1 AM. As he merged onto I-94, he was struck from behind by another semi, driven by a 47 year old Mendon man.

Troopers say the Mendon man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was not injured. Their names are not being released at this time as the crash is still under investigation. Speed is believed to be a factor in the incident.

Assisting at the scene were the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, Emmett Township Public Safety, the Marshall Township and Newton Township Fire Departments, Life Care Ambulance and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
