January 2019 Unemployment Up Around NE Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Unemployment rates went up around Northeast Indiana during the month of January.

The Department of Workforce Development released figures by county on Tuesday.

LaGrange County went from 2.6 percent in December to 3.7 percent in January. The number of persons unemployed rose by 230 while the number of job holders fell 168.

Elkhart County went from 2.9 to 3.7 percent. Steuben County went from 2.7 to 3.4 percent. Noble County from 2.9 to 4.2 percent. DeKalb County rose from 2.7 to 3.4 percent.

Gibson and Dubois Counties in southern Indiana had the lowest jobless rates at 3 percent each.
